Say Say Say - THE HSCC BAND

"Say Say Say" is a song by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, released in October 1983 as the lead single from McCartney's 1983 album Pipes of Peace. Produced by George Martin, it was recorded during production of McCartney's 1982 Tug of War album, about a year before the release of "The Girl Is Mine", the pair's first duet from Jackson's album Thriller (1982).

After its release in October 1983, "Say Say Say" became Jackson's seventh top-ten hit inside a year. It was a number-one hit in the United States (his sixth number-one single there), Canada, Norway, Sweden and several other countries, reached number two in the United Kingdom, and peaked within the top ten in Australia, Austria, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Switzerland and over 20 other nations.

In 2013, Billboard magazine listed the song as the 41st biggest hit of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It has also been voted the ninth-best collaboration of all time in a Rolling Stone readers poll.

The single was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in December 1983, representing sales of 1,000,000 copies. The single was promoted with an influential music video directed by Bob Giraldi.

Never - HEART

HEART is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Seattle, Washington as The Army. Two years later, they changed their name to Hocus Pocus, then they changed their name again to White Heart a year later, and eventually changed the name a final time to Heart in 1973. 

By the mid-1970s, original members Roger Fisher (guitar) and Steve Fossen (bass guitar) had been joined by sisters Ann Wilson (lead vocals and flute) and Nancy Wilson (rhythm guitar, backing and occasional lead vocals), Michael Derosier (drums), and Howard Leese (guitar and keyboards) to form the lineup for the band's initial mid- to late-1970s success period. These core members were included in the band's 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

"Never" is a song by American rock band Heart, released as the second single from the band's eponymous eighth studio album (1985). It was written by Holly Knight, Gene Bloch and "Connie" (a pseudonym for Ann Wilson, Nancy Wilson, and Sue Ennis).

"Never" is a rock song with an uplifting lyric to a person who has been discouraged by love. Like the preceding "What About Love", the music video for "Never" received heavy rotation on MTV.

"Never" peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time that Heart earned consecutive top ten entries, and the first time a Heart album generated two top ten singles.

The Flame - CHEAP TRICK

"The Flame" is a power ballad written by British songwriters Bob Mitchell and Nick Graham. The song was released in 1988 by the American rock band Cheap Trick and the first single from their tenth album Lap of Luxury.

"The Flame" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 1988, becoming the band's only Number One hit. It also reached Number One in Australia and Canada.

During the recording of the Lap of Luxury album, Epic Records asked Cheap Trick to work with outside songwriters, a request which guitarist Rick Nielsen, the band's main songwriter, was apprehensive about.

Prior to being offered to Cheap Trick, "The Flame" was first offered to British blues rock singer Elkie Brooks, who turned it down.  "The Flame" was written by Nick Graham, a former member of the British rock band Atomic Rooster, and Bob Mitchell.

Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos recalled that "The Flame" was offered to the band by the vice president of Epic Records along with the Diane Warren song "Look Away"; "[He] told us he had these two songs and they're both gonna be Number 1. 

He goes, 'We got one for you and one for the group Chicago, but you can have first choice.' He said, 'I think the one 'The Flame' would be good for you guys.' The other one was 'Look Away,' and it sounded like some girl singing on the demo. We really didn't like that song anyway, so 'Sure, we'll do 'The Flame.' We're game.'"

Lost In Love - AIR SUPPLY

"Lost in Love" is a song recorded by the British/Australian soft rock duo Air Supply. The song was written by group member Graham Russell.

The original version of the song appeared on the Life Support album in 1979 and was released as a single in Australia, reaching number 13 on the Kent Music Report. The group re-recorded the song for the album of the same name in 1980 and this version was released as a single in the US, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song reportedly took Russell just 15 minutes to write and the single was made in a single afternoon. It was among the first he wrote after returning to Australia from touring with Rod Stewart, yet found little work upon his return. Despite being short of money, Russell went on a retreat to South Australia, where he felt the solitude would help him to write new material.

Air Supply's popularity in their native country during the mid to late 1970s had not been matched elsewhere. Russell travelled to England in 1979, and while there, discovered that the group's Australian record label Big Time Records had sold "Lost in Love" to Arista Records in the United States for distribution. Soon thereafter, their song became a hit on the music charts in the US.
